  • (1888PressRelease) March 11, 2011 - TAHOE, Calif. -- Some mountains are known for their gentle side, while others offer a wild ride. Alpine Meadows Ski Resort provides the ideal combination of both. Today, with the help of New York-based marketing agency The Concept Farm, Alpine Meadows introduces a category-defying interactive game, 'The Alpinizer,' designed to show off the innovation and fun of skiing the mountain - and making Alpine Meadows even more difficult to get out of one's head.

When the popular Lake Tahoe, Calif. mountain resort opened in 1961 to provide a relaxed, family-friendly ski experience while also pleasing adventure-seekers with some of the most exciting winter sport experiences, the Internet wasn't a factor. Now, with the help of 'The Alpinizer,' skiers never have to leave their computer to enjoy the mountain's slopes.

"Alpine Meadows' skiers and boarders have a remarkably strong affinity for the mountain both on and off the slopes," said Deanna Gescheider, vice president of JMA Sierra Ventures LLC, parent company of Alpine Meadows. "We developed the Alpinizer as a way for our guests to enjoy Alpine Meadows before and after their visits. By creating more opportunities for interaction, the Alpinizer provides an engagement opportunity to build anticipation for an upcoming trip, or to relive fond memories of a recent one," she added.

The game is an immersive experience which is being launched simultaneously on the Alpine Meadows website (SkiAlpine.com) and on Facebook (http://apps.facebook.com/alpinizer) -- taking full advantage of the community elements the social media site offers.

Including 13 different mountain trail levels, from the 'Meadow Beginner Area' to the double diamond 'Our Father,' 'The Alpinizer' gives users the thrill of skiing Alpine Meadows virtually, while offering incentives within the game including prizes such as free and discounted lift tickets -- making 'The Alpinizer' a game which rewards users for the quality and quantity of their play.

According to Matt Plavoukos, Digital Director of The Concept Farm, "The game itself has different levels and badges, allowing you to play again and again, and compete against your friends. Features such as being able to create your own 'mountain head' with your picture and build your profile make it fun to share your photos and progress in your status stream."

"The Alpinizer, which allows you to 'ski your own head,' is a direct extension of our advertising campaign for this amazing resort and adds a unique promotion layer for users that transforms the relationship between Alpine Meadows and its fans," says Blake Olson, President of The Concept Farm.

"Drawing on our deep experience in building applications on Facebook for such clients as author James Patterson with the 'Don't Blink' staring contest, 'The Alpinizer' extends the 'We Know What You're Thinking Campaign' we created for Alpine Meadows into the social arena, allowing users to generate Alpine Meadows branded content and pushing Facebook engagement beyond liking and wall posts," continued Olson.

"Adding a gaming layer to the experience that our Alpine Meadows resort fans can have with us both on and off the mountain is almost as good as being here … almost," said Alpine Meadows' Gescheider.
