The Jamatkhana was like a castle built by the Agakhan in a colonial era surrounded by small alleys full of small households. The Agakhan had made sure the Ismailis felt a sense of belonging as they arrived in Africa by providing a gigantic structure as a place of worship and social life, that showed a strong presence of the community in Mombasa..

This 426-page paperback novel is a fictional account based on a true story of the Author’s Grandfather.

19 years old Jivraj Pradhan ventures into wild Africa in 1897 when the European countries were scrambling to get a piece of Africa. The British eventually ruled over the area while life struggles of challenges and survival continued for Jivraj. The man eating lions of Tsavo and the hostile tribes and the slave traders made life unpredictable for the local African population.
