  • San Jose, CA (1888PressRelease) May 24, 2011 - "Since we first opened AVAC's doors in 1976, our mission has been to create a fun, family-friendly environment where community members can work out together in a state-of-the-art fitness facility," said Joseph Shank, owner of AVAC. "It's rewarding to see the positive affects AVAC has had in helping individuals reach their health and fitness goals while creating a healthy and vibrant community."

For over three decades, AVAC has remained committed to supporting the community through direct service, disaster relief, and charitable contributions to various local organizations. This year, AVAC has chosen to commemorate its 35th anniversary by recognizing the standard of excellence in end-of-life care that the Hospice of the Valley provides the greater Santa Clara County.

"At AVAC, we raise awareness for many worthy causes and encourage action from our members and the community," continued Shank. "Leading a healthy lifestyle is more than staying fit. Social responsibility is also an important part of living healthfully. We provide a place where community members can educate themselves about important health issues and trends, while giving back to the broader community."

Today, AVAC continues to attract a steady increase in memberships by remaining at the forefront of emerging trends. The Club invests in its programming by attending health and fitness conferences for ongoing education; introducing residents to new specialty health, wellness and fitness classes; and investing in the latest exercising equipment. Its extensive renovations have turned the once walnut grove into today's resort-style fitness facility that features luxurious amenities, Pilates, swimming, tennis, personal training, yoga, tai chi, group exercise classes, nutrition services, social activities, and resources such as onsite childcare, massage, and the MORE Chiropractic and Rehabilitation clinic.
