  • Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) July 15, 2014 - The Mainline Chamber of Commerce has honored Allied Wire & Cable with the 2014 "Business of the Year" award during its annual Celebration of Business Leadership luncheon on June 26th, 2014.

This event is made to bring together the Main Line business community, family and friends to recognize hard work and leadership. Factors in determining which business would be classified as "Business of the Year" included the level of growth a company has been able to achieve, outside recognition by government and industry entities, innovative approach to providing products and services, involvement in the community, and entrepreneurial spirit.

Allied was not only celebrated for its growth and its unique approach to doing business, but also for its dedication to charitable causes, especially those focusing on the wellbeing of families. Allied is proud to support the local chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation as well as the Business Leadership Organized for Catholic Schools (BLOCS).

BLOCS is an organization which is supported by companies, firms and foundations of all sizes. It helps to grant scholarships, raise endowment funds, and essentially provide support to schools throughout the Philadelphia region. Allied Wire has donated $500,000 over the past two years, and recently pledged another $500,000.

From granting the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses and providing scholarships for Philadelphia children who would otherwise be unable to get a quality education, Allied has been honored to help such esteemed organizations. Allied has donated over $80,000 to the Philadelphia and SQ valley chapter in its 10+year partnership.

Businesses and non-profits are recognized in different categories, including "Large Business of the Year," "Small Business of the Year," "Nonprofit of the Year," "Green Business of the Year," and "Growing Business of the Year," among others. Companies with more than 100 employees were eligible for the "Large Business" category, which was presented to both Allied Wire & Cable and Cintas at the luncheon.

The ceremony was held at the Desmond Great Valley Hotel and Conference Center, and took place along with the celebration of the Leadership Main Line class of 2014. Dan Flynn, Co-President of Allied Wire & Cable, accepted the award.
