  • (1888PressRelease) November 22, 2012 - On Saturday, November 3, 2012, Allied Artists Music Group's own Chas West was honored with a Best Male Vocalist nod at this year's South Bay Music Awards, held at the Normandie Casino Showroom in Gardena. The award was presented by Kim Richards, CEO of the label's parent company, Allied Artists Int'l. Directly following the presentation, West was joined on stage by his all-star band comprised of Brent Woods on guitar (Vince Neil, Sebastian Bach), Dave "Chili" Moreno on drums (Puddle of Mud, Bruce Dickinson, Tribe of Gypsies) and Robbie Crane on bass guitar (Ratt, Lynch Mob). As a surprise guest, West's label mate and rising guitar sensation, Rocky Kramer, took to the stage for a rousing performance of Led Zeppelin's "Whole Lotta Love," demonstrating his guitar prowess, while West completely validated the newfound moniker "Best Male Vocalist."

Chas West first came to prominence as the voice behind THE JASON BONHAM BAND, aptly named after the band's drummer, Jason Bonham, son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer, the late John Bonham. According to the L.A. times, "Vocalist Charles [Chas] West is a wailer who sounds a lot like Soundgarden's 'Chris Cornell' and hearing Chas for the first time Robert Plant himself said 'he sounds like me when I was his age.'" Following three highly acclaimed records and countless world tours with BONHAM, West appeared in a cameo role in the Warner Brothers' movie "ROCK STAR" and later fronted LYNCH MOB, with famed guitarist George Lynch; recorded and toured with Tribe of Gypsies and served a short stint with FOREIGNER. West completed an incomparable residency as host and lead vocalist for Planet Hollywood's Las Vegas show "Rockstar the Tribute" in 2010.

"Although Chas has all of the vocal capabilities of rock icons like Robert Plant and Freddie Mercury, he has his own unique vocal characteristics that set him apart from anyone else," said Kim Richards, who went on to note that Allied Artists Music Group "looks forward to a long and fruitful relationship with Chas, and we should be in the studio early next year, with a release towards the fall of 2013." Label president, Stephan Bauer (Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones & Jeff Beck) noted that "Chas epitomizes the days when talent triumphed over electronic vocal manipulation. There is no need for 'auto-tune' with Chas West."

Allied Artists Music Group began life as the music soundtrack division of Allied Artists Pictures. Throughout the years, the Allied Artists' name has not only been associated with legendary motion pictures, but truly memorable soundtracks, such as "Cabaret," by Liza Minnelli and Joel Grey. Today, the company strives to produce, market and distribute quality music across all genres that is both timeless and cutting edge.
