  • (1888PressRelease) November 22, 2011 - Recycling industry has been playing an important role in supporting Malaysia's economy. We were honored to have an interview opportunity with the industrial leader - Mr. Alan Tan, General Manager of Loh Recycle Enterprise, a well-known recycler in Malaysia. During the past 10 years, Mr. Tan has lead Loh Recycle Enterprise from a small factory to become an industrial leader today with factory sites and workers all over Malaysia and a strong business network across the world.

Question 1: How is the business development of Loh Recycle Enterprise during the global economic crisis this year?

Mr. Tan: First of all, I would like to thank my staff for their hard work in 2011 and all our business partners for their continuous support. Despite the economic downturn, we still record a growth in profit this year, which reflects our competitive strength in the market. The economic crisis has filtered out some of the small scale and non-competitive recyclers in the industry, therefore, I always emphasize that quality management and professionalism are very important particularly in a bad economy. Our quality products and professional services have earned us longstanding support from our customers and win-win results throughout all these ups and downs.

Question 2: What do you think about the future development of the recycling industry? What are the biggest challenges facing the industry?

Mr. Tan: The recycling industry has been developing rapidly with the fast growing awareness and concern about the environmental issues and resources conservation on a global scale. At the same time, the increasing demand for various recycled products in many developed countries also opens up new prospects for the development of the recycling industry.

However, there are still challenges ahead, such as the rising cost of collecting and processing waste, making recyclable materials themselves in a direct competition with the corresponding raw materials. In addition, the changing and tighter regulations of the waste management and recycling policies at the national and international levels is also another challenge for us.

Question 3: How important do you think recycling business is to the environmental issues?

Mr. Tan: Recycling business plays a key or even priority role in the environmental issues today. The top-of-mind concern about the ever-worse eco problems and environmental conservation issues at the international level, and the pressing needs to improve the waste management and sustainable community development at the national level, together with the increasing awareness on the public heath and green living at the individual level, have all contributed to enhancing the importance of recycling business as a key and priority role to attain these environmental objectives. Actually, government efforts and continuous support to the recycling industry is indispensable to ensure the environmental sustainability.

Question 4: As a leading recycler in Malaysia, what sort of efforts are you making to contribute to the environment?

Mr. Tan: As a socially responsible recycler, we take environmental responsibilities seriously. It is our intention and practice to pursue rigorously high standards in protecting and improving our environment. We have established a management system that covers every step of our collection and processing procedures to guarantee the minimization of possible adverse impacts on the environment during the processes. In addition, we also provide environmental talks and regular trainings to our staff to inculcate the latest environmental concept and knowledge. Furthermore, we always organize planting activities, I also join the activities personally and share the fun of planting with my teams. We have planted a lot of fruit trees and flowers around the factory site to provide a healthy, fresh and green working environment for our staff.

Question 5: Why do you choose recycling as your business?

Mr. Tan: I love Mother Nature very much since I was a child. I love green environment and all kinds of plants, this is why I always go planting with my staff. I want to do something for the environment, therefore, I choose recycling business. I think nothing is better than combining one's interest with the business, most importantly, this business benefits the public, the society and the earth.

Question 6: Can you tell us your plan for Loh Recycle Enterprise in 2012?

Mr. Tan: In 2012, we will keep emphasizing our core competencies to further strengthen our competitive advantages, continue to improve and outperform ourselves in the industry by focusing on the continuous enhancement of product quality, service and customer relationship.

At the same time, we will continue to develop global market by expanding our worldwide partnership network. With continuous efforts, we have gained more and more support and trust from various large-scale manufacturers over the world for long-term business cooperation including those famous electrical appliance brands in China, etc. We will keep actively seeking for reliable business agencies and partners to further ensure our competitiveness in worldwide sales and distribution network.

On the other hand, we will further reinforce our green image by supporting and participating more environmental campaigns in future. We are also thinking about to sponsor and formulate environmental activities together with the environmental organizations, charity organizations and schools in Malaysia. As a responsible recycler in Malaysia, we hope to contribute more to the Malaysia's environment.

To sum up, we will continue to fulfill our commitment as a reliable recycle business partner, and to further strengthen our quality management and customer service support with total dedication and professionalism. We believe our longstanding success depends not only on the price, quality, and service, but also a high level of customer satisfaction and continuous win-win customer relationship.

Question 7: Are you optimistic about 2012? Do you expect the industry to have a good year?

Mr. Tan: We are positive to the year of 2012. We believe this could also be a great business opportunity no matter the economy is good or bad. We believe those who can provide customers with top quality products and service at a competitive price will always be the winner in future.

In the interview, Mr. Tan was passionate about the environmental and recycling issues. With his dedication, passion and efforts, we believe that Loh Recycle Enterprise will be a greater industrial leader in leading the way to a greener environment for us in future. We wish Mr. Tan and his recycling business a bright 2012.
