  • (1888PressRelease) July 06, 2010 - Building on the early success of the Model 1830A RF Power Meter, TEGAM is pleased to announce that the U.S. Air Force has just awarded a contract to TEGAM in excess of $1.2 million. Over the next three years, 161 Model 1830As will be shipped to Air Force bases throughout the United States and in seven countries.

With this order, four branches of the U.S. Military have now purchased the TEGAM Model 1830A, including the Army, Navy, Air Force and The National Guard, and it has been awarded national stock number (NSN) 6625015667703.

"The 1830A is the cornerstone of our new PM Series line of Power Sensor Calibration equipment," stated Andy Brush, CEO of TEGAM. "The wide adoption of this instrument for both military and commercial uses indicates how well it meets the customer's needs and reveals the current capabilities of TEGAM's internal research and development team."

The 1830A is an RF Power Meter intended for applications where the lowest uncertainty measurement is important, including metrology, research, and production testing of RF equipment.

It is designed to directly read calibrated RF power with 100 ohm and 200 ohm thermistor style RF power sensors from manufacturers including: Agilent, TEGAM, Weinschel, Hughes, General Microwave, EIP and Milltech. It includes 4-digit calibration factor resolution stored in multiple tables on a per sensor basis, 3-60 db attenuator support, LXI-C and USB 2.0 compliant communication interfaces or full remote programmability and heater control for ovenized sensors.

The accuracy is 0.05% of reading, 0.5 microW and the thermistor balanced value may be adjusted from 50 ohm to 300 ohm which aids in estimating port match parameters of RF source outputs.

Sensor adapter cables are available for different sensor types including a direct connection to 478A and 8478B coaxial thermistor mounts. More information about the TEGAM 1830A can be found at www.tegam.com.
