  • (1888PressRelease) September 22, 2014 - Following the resounding success of the Global Congress on Process Safety, the Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) has launched the premiere conference for process safety professionals in the GCC. The CCPS Middle East Process Safety Conference - CCPS MEPSC will be held from 19-21 May, 2015 at the Ritz Carlton Grand Canal in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E.

CCPS is a not-for-profit, corporate membership organization within the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) that serves companies worldwide in process industry sectors to improve their process safety culture, technology, and performance. CCPS is also deeply invested in bringing students and young professionals under the safety culture fold through its Safety and Chemical Engineering Education initiative (SAChE). This initiative is designed to provide teaching materials and programs that incorporate elements of process safety with the education of undergraduate students and young practicing engineers.

Otis Shelton, President of AIChE and prominent industry figure, welcomes participants, "On behalf of AIChE's Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to all professionals and companies across the region, and I invite you to participate in the first Middle East Process Safety Conference (CCPS MEPSC)."

A part of the growing family of CCPS conferences, CCPS MEPSC is in alignment with CCPS's worldwide mission to prevent major accidents by promoting lifelong learning and continual improvement in process safety. Participants will gain valuable insights in how CCPS members and others are eliminating process safety incidents and through this, enhance shareholder value by improving reliability, safety, and quality. Avoiding catastrophic losses will improve corporate image and increase investor confidence.

Focusing on achieving asset reliability by managing operational risks effectively, this regional event aims to define, through collective industry experience, the engineering practices and leadership traits that will drive industry to a zero harm culture.
