  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) August 17, 2012 - The Adelphi University Exhibitions Program is proud to present its annual Art Faculty Exhibition featuring works by eight art and art education faculty members: Julia Whitney Barnes, Dale Flashner, Brooks Frederick, Amy Mahnick, Jennifer Maloney, Evie McKenna, William Shillalies, and Žaneta Zubkova. This exhibition, on view at the Ruth S. Harley University Center Gallery, from October 8 through November 14, 2012, highlights an exceptional selection of both two-dimensional and three-dimensional work. The opening reception will be held on Tuesday, October 16, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.

The Art Faculty Exhibition is an annual showcase of works by Adelphi University's faculty members. Rotating every three years, the institution's professional working artists display work in their respective fields. This year's exhibit presents an extensive selection of media from collage, sculpture, painting, ceramics, mixed media and photography.

Through the work of these distinctively different artists, the show will examine the unique relationships that we all have with our environment. From Brooks Frederick's monumental oil and tar portraits of those affected by the Gulf of Mexico oil spill; to Jen Maloney's paintings of everyday, recognizable objects; to Bill Shillalies' organic clay forms; and Evie McKenna's photographs of candid portraits of her surroundings. As you explore the gallery space, you will find eight different reactions to the human experience.

The Ruth S. Harley University Center Gallery is open Monday through Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. To learn more about the artists and view glimpses of the exhibition, please visit adelphi.edu/artmuseum/exhibitions/.
