  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) February 20, 2013 - Danielle Arboleda, from Bayside, NY, is a finance major and currently a junior in Adelphi University's Robert B. Willumstad School of Business. She wishes to run a company with her mother in the near future. She is already assisting her mother run their family business which has been expanding over the years. The opportunity of joining the Jr. Moxxie Program, which is designed to provide female college students with a competitive edge for their entry into the business world, was unexpected and exciting for Arboleda. She shadowed her mentor Randi Dukoff, an expert corporate wellness speaker & behavioral health facilitator, board certified nutrition, health & exercise coach, and attended her events at different organizations. She points out that the best part of the program for her was the connection she developed with her mentor, "it was nice to go for field trips to places, but you only get to hear their stories for only a couple of hours.

However, to work closely with our mentors and learn about their lives is a kind of reality check; not everyone ends up with what they start doing." The mentees are assigned to mentors from a field different than their majors and Arboleda believes that this gave her an opportunity "to explore different fields; it doesn't necessarily mean that you have to join that field." Her experience has been fulfilling as a Jr. Moxxie and has helped her expand her networks, taught her how to approach people in other businesses and interact with them to build a contact.

Arboleda is one of three business students who were sponsored by the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business for the Jr. Moxxie Program. She started in March 2012 and her training will end this spring. However, she looks forward to joining this program again. Apart from the Jr. Moxxie program, Arboleda is also the president of Beta Alpha Psi, an honorary organization for financial information students and professionals, and an active member of the Accounting Society.
