Adelphi Appoints Bernadine Waller, M.A. '10, as Assistant Director of Experiential Learning

Always a strong advocate for learning by doing, the Center for Career Development has high hopes that Waller will further nurture opportunities for students to gain experiential learning opportunities. "The hiring of Bernadine Waller into the newly created position of Assistant Director of Experiential Learning, reinforces the University's commitment of providing learning by doing opportunities for our students," says Thomas Ward, Executive Director of the Career Development Center "By bridging what they are learning in the classroom with practical workplace experiences, Adelphi students are prepared to excel in a highly competitive global economy."

With diverse past experience in journalism, mental health counseling, marketing consultation and leadership training Bernadine Waller has immense wisdom and empathy to offer the students in her new role. Bernadine Waller is an Adjunct Professor for Adelphi's Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies. She has provided psychotherapy for students at Adelphi's Garden City and Manhattan Campuses. Prior to coming to Adelphi she has worked as a journalist for an Emmy-award winning NBC News in Philadelphia and as a marketing consultant and leadership trainer for a Fortune 100 company. She has written for The Temple News, Associated Press, The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, and covered the Centennial Olympic Games for The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. She holds a B.A. in journalism from Temple University and an M.A. in mental health counseling from Adelphi University.
