  • Knoxville, TN (1888PressRelease) September 25, 2012 - After releasing the wildly popular Discounts Spirits EP in 2011, Adam Hill is back with Banjo Moon, a collection of 12 new songs that are gritty rock n roll and showcase his Dylan style Americana songwriting at its best. The record will be available as a digital release through his Bandcamp page only. http://adamhill.bandcamp.com

"Banjo Moon" is the latest release from rock n roll songwriter Adam Hill. Recorded at his home in Nashville, Tennessee during 2012, the songs were pulled from his 20 years as a writer. Adam was born in North Georgia and raised in the Mountains of East Tennessee. His Dad grew up with moonshiners, coal miners and farmers. His Mom's Dad was a sign painter that wanted to work for Walt Disney. Adam grew up with his Mom and Dad's love of music, soaking up everything from Bill Monroe to Nat King Cole.

In 1992 Adam was the lead guitarist and co-songwriter for the Roane County punk band The Exploding Janitors. By 1996 Adam was the front man for Knoxville, Tennessee's The Satellite Pumps who were signed to Bloodshot Records of Chicago. The Pumps broke up before the first record was made but they did manage to put out 1 local tape, "Rock n Roll Kissin'".

Adam then fronted The Raggedettes, a junk blues folk punk band before moving to New York City. While in NYC Adam worked delivering furniture, wrote more songs and released "Lo Fi Goodbye" on SnL records. Then he joined Second Manassas with Philadelphia visual artist Rob Matthews and they self released "Life with Birds." In 2001, he moved to Nashville and started The Old Flames. In Nashville he got the attention of Americana Music Publishing and SisnBro Publishing. Adam then self recorded "Willingness" on a 4 track in his apartment, Willingness, is lo-fi and a little folksy but with a groove remniscent of "Let it Bleed" era Rolling Stones.

In 2008 Adam began writing "Smoke Trees", which was recorded in East Nashville with Mark Robertson and J.D.Wilkes of Th' Legendary Shack Shakers. In 2011 Adam released "Missing Pictures," a self recorded mix of tunes from his various bands. He finished out the year by releasing the "Discount Spirits' EP in 2011.

Adam's song Magnolia appears on MTV's Made and his song Leona Barnett has been cut by Chelle Rose for her upcoming album "Browder Hollow Boy," produced by Texas legend Ray Wylie Hubbard.
