  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) October 30, 2010 - Action Congress of Nigeria - U.S.A. Chapter heartily congratulates His Excellency the Governor of Èkìtì State, Professor Káyòdé Fáyemí on a great victory for the people of Èkìtì State, and for the victory of democracy over tyranny, despotism and corruption.

We recall with great perturbation three and a half years ago, the peoples mandate was stolen and democracy was maliciously subverted by a group of people representing a party that has not only subverted democracy but viciously denied justice to the people by rigging elections. They engaged in undemocratic and subversive activities designed to take over government under false pretenses and loot the honest and hardworking people's treasury in Èkìtì State. They took over the State apparatus, including security forces and used the same to oppress, harass and demoralize the good people of Èkìtì State.

We recall with joy and hope that the good people of Èkìtì State were undaunted by these dastardly acts. With pride, we recall that the brave and honorable people of Èkìtì State rose up to fight against this evil tyranny.

Particularly, we note with great hope, the unprecedented and historic bravery of our mothers in Èkìtì, who would not brook injustice even at the point of the gun held by dishonorable people. Our mothers as custodians of all that is good in Èkìtì State went half naked on the streets of Èkìtì State to protest against the darkness and demonic evil that descended on Èkìtì State, and pledged that evil will not stand in a state that is occupied by righteous people.

We in Action Congress of Nigeria, U.S.A. Chapter observed with great confidence, as Action Congress of Nigeria, the party of justice, democracy and service to the people, showed great maturity by not advocating violence for which the PDP is notorious. Instead, they marched on to challenge evil in the courts of justice. Even though the PDP did everything to obstruct and subvert justice, Action Congress of Nigeria pressed on based on overwhelming evidence that the PDP, and their denizens of darkness and evil, had deliberately and maliciously subverted democracy and the will of the good people of Èkìtì State. Today, despite all their shenanigans, light has finally come to Èkìtì State. The reign of darkness engendered by the PDP is finally over, and the sweet victory of justice over injustice can now be enjoyed by the good and hard working people of Èkìtì State.

Pursuant upon this, Action Congress of Nigeria, U.S.A. Chapter resolves to:

    1. Heartily congratulate his Excellency, the Governor of Èkìtì State, Professor Káyòdé Fáyemí as leader of a great movement of the good people of Èkìtì State, to ensure that the tyranny of injustice is brought to an end, and the light of democracy, truth and justice can shine in Èkìtì State.
    2. Joyously congratulate and rejoice most heartily with the longsuffering and good people of Èkìtì State for this victory of justice over injustice despite all obstacles that were placed in their way.
    3. Stand solidly with the people and incoming government of Èkìtì State in ensuring that such dastardly evil never happens again in Èkìtì State and indeed in any part of our country, Nigeria.

In light of this, Action Congress of Nigeria, U.S.A. Chapter:

Strongly urges the Governor, His Excellency Professor Káyòdé Fáyemí, and the government of Èkìtì State to be sure by all means necessary, to expeditiously institutionalize and entrench irreversible democratic processes in Èkìtì State.

Powerfully reminds His Excellency, Governor Fáyemí and the government of Èkìtì State to constantly remember that it is the will of the good people of Èkìtì State that assured justice over evil, and thus the Governor and the Government must serve and defend the people of Èkìtì State without reservation, against all enemies within and without.

Strongly enjoins His Excellency, Governor Káyòdé Fáyemí and the government of Èkìtì State, to leave no stone unturned and brook no excuse whatsoever, in establishing and entrenching open, transparent, accountable, democratic and prosperity-oriented governance to effectively assure a prosperous Èkìtì State, that will shine ceaselessly as a beacon of light, truth, justice and prosperity in Nigeria and beyond.

Firmly undertakes to leave no stone unturned in keeping Governor Fáyemí and the government of Èkìtì State on their toes. However, Action Congress of Nigeria U.S.A. Chapter pledges to give His Excellency, Governor Káyòdé Fáyemí and the Government and good people of Èkìtì State all the support at our disposal, to ensure that they succeed in the daunting task required to bring smiles to the faces of the good people of Èkìtì State.

Warmly congratulates the Judiciary in Nigeria for their good work, proving to the entire nation and the world that justice can prevail in Nigeria and hope remains for the teeming millions of hardworking Nigerians who also depend on justice as the last hope of the people and of democracy.

Most strongly urges the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fastidiously keep all records of their activities and to be open, truthful and fair in their work as the gatekeepers for the survival of democracy in Nigeria. We enjoin INEC to establish processes for a completely transparent and participatory election process that establishes universal suffrage as a norm, and as the safeguard to prevent rigging and subversion of the will of the people by unscrupulous people in Èkìtì State and any part of Nigeria.

    Signed:

    Honorable Olátúnjí Òjérántí
    Chairman

    Honorable Solomon Òsídélé
    General Secretary
