  • (1888PressRelease) August 23, 2020 - The Devi Ahilybai Holkar airport turned into techno savvy on Tuesday by providing service delivery through a Robot. Besides welcoming passengers, it’s also guiding them. Keshav Sharma, Regional Director of Airport Authority of India (AAI) Western Region, inaugurated services of Robot at the city airport by unveiling the curtain from electronic device. On this occasion Airport Director Aryama Sanyal was also present. The Robot is developed by students of Acropolis Engineering College.

    The Robot is working on recorded messages. While welcoming the passengers, it also repeats mobile number of Airport Terminal Manager (ATM) to take any kind of help or guidance from him. APD Sanyal said that initially the Robot would be static, but shortly it would be made mobile. It will help to those passengers who don’t know to whom contact in case of baggage lost or missing. It can sense presence from 10 feet distance.

    The Indore airport is the first airport in the state which has started service delivery through electronic device, Robot. Later in the evening, Sharma also inaugurated the Philatelic Stamp Exhibition on Gandhiji and Gandhi Library at the airport. Rare stamps of Gandhiji which had been issued by not only Indian Postal Dept but other countries have been displayed for the occasion of Gandhi death anniversary on Wednesday for three days as homage to Bapu by the AAI, Postal dept and Malwa Philatelic Society jointly.

    Dr Hamied, Chairman Cipla Ltd., during his visit at the city Airport was very happy with Gandhi corner and after going back from the city he also donated some rare photographs of Gandhiji’s visit to Cipla on July 4, 1939. These pictures have also been displayed there.
