  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) March 11, 2013 - Because the UN estimates that 1 in 3 women will be beaten, raped or otherwise abused in her lifetime and the average age of commercial sexual exploitation in the US is estimated to be between the ages of 12-14, Peter Buffett is launching his most powerful song yet titled "Silence Broken" during the week of International Women's Day.

Buffett's lyrical content paints a sincere, thought-provoking picture of innocence stolen. His words lend a voice to those who want to tell a story of on-going sexual abuse and the internal emotional turmoil they experience; people who want to step out of the shadow of sexual abuse and are in need of a supportive hand that is free of judgment.

"When did someone say to you the words that make life break in two?"

The inspiration for the song came from Buffett's personal experience of visiting GEMS, an organization that serves girls and young women who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation and domestic trafficking. While there he was moved when reading statements written by the young women in written on index cards throughout the room. It was even more powerful when he saw the ages written below each event.

"You know when your life was stolen. Who could know it would fall so far?"
