  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) May 18, 2012 - Accessory Power has surpassed its fundraising goal for the Pandas International Bamboo Project to plant one full acre of bamboo seedlings at the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve Center in Sichuan province, China and is announcing a further commitment to raise additional funds.

Due to the success of their previous fundraising effort, Accessory Power will be starting a new fundraising period. From June through October 2012, Accessory Power will be donating 5% of their net profits for every GOgroove Panda Pal Speaker sold to Pandas International. The funds raised will be donated towards field medical equipment used by veterinarians to treat Pandas not in captivity.

From August 1, 2011 through March 31, 2012, Accessory Power had set aside 5% of net profits of the GOgroove Panda Pal Portable Speaker towards its goal to plant one complete acre of bamboo seedlings. Accessory Power has surpassed that goal and will present Pandas International with an amount that will cover one complete acre of bamboo seedlings along with an additional 730 clumps of bamboo seedlings.

Pandas International is a registered nonprofit organization dedicated to the preservation of the Giant Panda and its habitat. With approximately 1,600 wild pandas in existence around the world, the organization concentrates on educating the public, and raising money for research and the preservation of panda habitats.

After the devastating 2008 earthquake in the Sichuan Province of China, the Wolong Giant Panda Reserve Center and the Chengdu Panda Breeding and Research Center were severely affected. Pandas International dedicated itself to raising money to provide medicine, food and electrical equipment to the reserves and neighboring communities. Donations, like the one being made by Accessory Power, will be used to fund Pandas International's Bamboo Project, a drive to replant hundreds of acres of bamboo destroyed by the earthquake.

The nonprofit organization also provides assistance to the China Conservation and Research Centers for the Giant Panda. The approximately 40 panda reserves across China are dedicated to protecting pandas and their natural habitat by patrolling reserves to prevent poaching and logging, conducting research on pandas and their behavior and mating habits, providing corridors for panda migrations, along with many other services.

Accessory Power has included information about Pandas International within its Panda Pal packaging encouraging owners to visit the Pandas International website for more ways to support the organization and its goal of protecting and preserving the endangered Giant Panda and its habitat.
