  • Oakland, CA (1888PressRelease) April 15, 2013 - Abba Self Storage Units has just opened an additional 20,000 square foot expansion to its high-tech Concord storage facility located near Hwy 4 and Hwy 242. The expansion was to answer market demand for additional large-size storage units. The storage facility serves customers from many of the surrounding East Bay areas including Concord, Pacheco, Martinez, Walnut Creek, Pittsburg, and Pleasant Hill.

Based on past rental history, Abba's property manager, Jeff Smith, says customers just seem to migrate toward the larger units. He adds that, "The cost isn't really that much more for the bigger units and it definitely makes it easier when storing household furniture, a car, or boat". The new units consist mainly of 12'5 x 35' and 15' x 35' sizes and have taller and wider doors for easier access. Smith went on to say, "All our units are individually equipped with alarms and sprinkler systems as well as 24 hour monitoring".

As Abba demonstrates, the self storage business continues to move into a more technologically advanced direction. In the past, storage facilities were often just a small mom and pop business with large garage spaces available where the security meant a padlock or key. Now demand has grown for high-tech security that includes things like video surveillance cameras and restricted gate access systems where people store valuables and goods way beyond just household furniture.
