  • Trenton-Ewing, NJ (1888PressRelease) February 23, 2012 - Mercer's chapter of the American Association for Women in Community Colleges once again co-sponsored a "Think Pink" Breast Cancer Awareness Night on February 7 in cooperation with the Breast Cancer Resource Center (BCRC) of the YWCA Princeton. Mercer County Community College (MCCC) held the event in the Physical Education building on the West Windsor campus to coincide with the men's and women's basketball games versus Burlington County College. Women and men players from both teams donned pink shoelaces in support of the event.

Now in its second year, "Think Pink" featured an informational display for students and guests in the lobby. At the conclusion of the women's game, MCCC President Patricia C. Donohue presented the Breast Cancer Resource Center representatives with 25 handmade woolen hats for breast cancer patients, all which were made by members of the MCCC women's basketball team. In addressing the fans, Dr. Donohue noted the important contribution of MCCC's female athletes and thanked all of those who helped make the event possible.

Raffle prizes and a three-point shooting contest during the men's game added to the festivities. Approximately $300 was raised from ticket sales and other donations, including the proceeds of a bake sale at the event by members of MCCC's women's cross country team.
