  • (1888PressRelease) May 03, 2017 - Rc Record Classic Label, record label specializing in classic and baroque music CD recordings, will release from June 6th, a new recording of the opera "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" by Giovanni Paisiello. The opera, composed by the Iltalian composer for the court of Catherine II of Russia, premiered in Saint Petersburg on September 15, 1782 and gained a striking success. The work became so famous and his composer so well-known and famous that when Gioachino Rossini and Cesare Sterbini decided to give the hand to the subject to compose their version in 1816, they were compelled, to ingratiate an audience otherwise prevented and potentially hostile, a booklet printed on the occasion of the debut at Teatro Argentina in Rome, a warning in which both authors declared great admirers of Paisiello and his opera, also showing a substantial structural difference between their version and the one of Paisiello.

Rc Record Classic decided to pay homage to Paisiello's masterpiece (which so influenced Mozart in the composition of "Le Nozze di Figaro") by recording a new version of "Il Barbiere di Siviglia" based on the autograph of the score preserved in the library of the "San Pietro a Majella" Music Conservatory, in Naples, and entrusting the execution to opera singers and instrumentalists experienced in the executive practice of the Italian operatic repertoire of the late eighteenth century. The singers of this release are Richard Donnely (in the role of Count Almaviva), Laurie Lambert Lane as Rosina, Riccardo Luzzi as Bartolo, Jeffrey Nelson as Figaro; Don Basilio will be performed by George Wilkinson, the roles of Giovinetto and Svegliato (Bartolos's servants) was performed respectively by Roberto Vicarelli and Thomas Lansbury. In the roles of Notary and of an Alcade we will find Thomas Allen Smith and Bill Brownless. The vocal cast will be accompanied by the Harmoniae Templum Chamber Orchestra conducted by Simone Perugini, who for Rc Record Classic has recently recorded a Cd release with inedit opera Overtures by Domenico Cimarosa. The double CD of Il Barbiere di Siviglia will be available on June 6th in music stores, Amazon and, in digital format.
