  • (1888PressRelease) December 16, 2015 - About the Book: Do you ever wonder what children did before there were schools and trains and televisions - and even football pitches? There's plenty to do in the Iron Age fort at Bath and the grownups in Cordelia's family always seem to be busy. Great Grandfather Rud Hud Hudibras has tricks and stories galore and her friend Pig is fun. But Cordelia needs a friend her own age, one that can talk to her. A most unusual event will surprise everyone. Even her father, King Lear, will have to stop gazing at the stars, come down from his tower and help prepare for a great adventure.

    Excerpt from the Book:
"Cordelia nodded. Pig went and rootled in the bulrushes by the river. The woman showed Cordelia how to make a star with eight willow shoots and fix them with the bark strips. Then she showed her how to turn the sticks and weave the bark. In and out. Turn. In and out. Turn again. Cordelia copied the twists, round and round. She forgot all about Pig.

Then the man came back and when he saw Cordelia's very-nearly-basket he smiled a big smile that cracked his face almost in half.

'Congratulations, Princess! You are getting quicker than me at basket making. I'll have to hurry up!' and he walked off into the tall bulrushes.

'Oh dear, oh dear,' thought Cordelia, 'I'll have to make Pig's basket myself and I shall be late for going to Armorica.' And then suddenly she thought again.

'Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear! Where ever is Pig?' and she ran towards the bulrushes. And there was the man carrying a large basket. It looked very heavy indeed and it made a sort of snoring noise. And when the man put it down carefully on the ground there was Pig, curled up cosily and fast asleep."
