  • (1888PressRelease) October 12, 2011 - A D Clark Grounds Maintenance Ltd has recently achieved ISO 14001 certification - the international standard for environmental management systems. To reach the standard, A D Clark had to make a critical appraisal of their environmental impact and develop a robust environmental management system to continually improve their 'green' performance.

This, coupled with ISO 9001 quality management certification, which A D Clark has held since 1995, makes for a superb integrated management system. A D Clark was audited by SGS United Kingdom Ltd, the world's leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company.
Nicky Fox, Company Director said, "Achieving both ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 is a fantastic accolade and demonstrates A D Clark's commitment to quality and environmental management and continual improvement within the company".

"We have taken many steps towards achieving the standard, such as undertaking a full appraisal of our waste streams and looking to maximise reusing and recycling where possible. We have also set up systems to monitor fuel use and efficiency and advice for drivers".

A D Clark specialises in the management and implementation of grounds maintenance contracts for business parks, corporate headquarters, private estates, schools and Ministry of Defence sites. From a complete year-round schedule to specific troubleshooting and individual soft-landscaping projects. The business with 45 years experience is accustomed to working both independently and in partnership with other contractors. In addition to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, A D Clark is also accredited to SAFE Contractor and Investors in People and pursues an ongoing program of investment in training and equipment that enables staff to provide the best possible service at all times.

A D Clark launched its quest to attain ISO 14001 in January 2011 with the appointment of consultants Abbassi Ltd to complete a gap analysis and to implement a new management system to integrate the existing ISO 9001 manual and procedures with new ISO 14001 procedures.

SGS carried out a pre-audit in June 2011 with a detailed audit on both standards carried out in July 2011, A D Clark achieved the standards with no non-conformances.

SGS Auditor Christine Nichol adds, "We were very impressed with the comprehensive and disciplined manner in which A D Clark implemented their EMS. There was clear commitment and enthusiasm from all levels of the business, which, when combined with the high level of preparation for the audit, led to their ISO 14001 success."
