  • (1888PressRelease) July 28, 2013 - In a show of pride and unity, Joshua Williams and his family traveled to Los Angeles to receive his accolades. On June 30th, Joshua was honored for all the hard work he has been doing for almost 8 years. Introduced by the Gladiator himself, Columbus Short, Joshua was honored for feeding thousands of people in his home state of Florida and the island of Jamaica.

Joshua was moved to start his mission to "Stomp out World Hunger" after seeing a homeless man on the street on his way to church with his mom, one Sunday morning. That urge was further re-enforced after seeing an episode of the "Feed the Children" infomercial on TV. His heart was moved to act when he realized how many children worldwide were going to bed and waking up hungry each day. His first inclination was to do something to make a difference and take a stance against childhood hunger. And he did, he formed an alliance with his family and got them involved with cooking and dispensing food to Miami's homeless. That fortitude and persistence eventually led to the formation of the Joshua's Heart Foundation.

"It just goes to show that you don't need to have a lot of money to make a difference just a lot of heart", said his mom Claudia. "Joshua believes in his mission so much he commonly responds to the question what else would you do if you weren't doing this, by saying, what else would I be doing? With conviction like that, how can you not believe and support him in his role as he leads the quest to stomp out hunger", she added.

Joshua's immediate future plans involve getting local schools to participate and help move the mission forward by participating in the organization's Canstruction Jr. Project. Canstruction Jr., challenges students to collect nonperishable canned goods and utilize these cans to then build a sustainable structure that will be entered into a contest and judged by a panel of professionals. At the end of the contest all the can goods are donated to be used to help alleviate hunger throughout local communities.

Since appearing on BET, Joshua and his mom were invited to speak more about the foundation, their goals and what is needed to accomplish them when they appeared on the NBC local affiliate WTVJ's Saturday morning news segment with Sharon Lawson.
