  • San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) April 27, 2014 - ACT Today! (Autism Care and Treatment Today!) announces its 4th Annual ONEHOPE ACT Today! for Military Families 5k/10k Run/Walk & Family Festival raised over $102,000 for military children with autism. The event was held on Saturday, April 19th at Tecolote Shores Park in Mission Bay, San Diego.

ACT Today! is a national, non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness and provide treatment services and support to families to help their children with autism achieve their full potential. ACT Today! created ACT Today! for Military Families (ATMF) in 2010 to extend support to military families impacted by autism.

"This year's event was the largest ATMF event to date. We are truly grateful to have the support of the corporate and general community," says Nancy Alspaugh-Jackson, ACT Today! executive director. "The funds we raised through this event will allow us to continue fulfilling our mission."

ONEHOPE returned as the Medal of Honor Title Sponsor of the event. "ONEHOPE is committed to helping children with autism through ACT Today!, especially those in military families who otherwise would lack access to care for their children. We look forward to this event every year and are fortunate to support such a great organization and cause," says Melissa Lake, ONEHOPE Foundation Executive Director.

The event welcomed 1,600 attendees, including runners, walkers and spectators of the 5k, 10k, and 1 mile races. After crossing the finish line, they celebrated at the family festival hosted by actor/comedian Mark Christopher Lawrence ("Glee" and "Chuck"). Attendees enjoyed live entertainment by Northstar, a native San Diego band, a beer garden/wine tent provided by ONEHOPE Wine and Stone Brewing Co., a 40-booth resource fair, and a kids' zone sponsored by Center for Autism and Related Disorders, which included inflatables, carnival games, face painting, arts & crafts, kids egg hunt and ABA staffed Quiet Zone.
