  • (1888PressRelease) December 05, 2015 - The 30th edition of SIVAL will showcase the production techniques that will drive tomorrow's agriculture: new farming practices, varietal innovations, urban agriculture and digital agriculture.

The 21,000 visitors expected at SIVAL will have an opportunity to discover the latest trends at two key events: the Vegepolys International Business Event (VIBE) for trade professionals and the international Vegepolys Symposium, which will address the future of different fruit varieties. SIVAL will take place from Tuesday 12th to Thursday 14th January 2016 at the Angers Exhibition Centre in France.

Every year for the last 30 years, SIVAL has evolved to the next level, to offer visitors a glimpse of the latest plant production techniques. Founded to raise the profile of the sector as a whole, this trade show enables all those involved in the plant world to meet and interact.

The 30th edition of SIVAL will go further still by placing a spotlight on the changes that will shape the future of agriculture, from connected agriculture, to the varieties of tomorrow and urban agriculture. It will feature a record number of exhibitors: 600 exhibitors (including 12% from abroad) will attend this three-day trade show.

Tuesday 12 January 2016 marks the international day at SIVAL where two key events will be taking place: the Vegepolys International Business Event (VIBE) for trade professionals and the international Vegepolys Symposium, which will address the future of different fruit varieties.

The Vegepolys International Business Event (VIBE) was created by the Vegepolys plant innovation cluster, in conjunction with SIVAL and development agencies in the Pays de la Loire region. The event is open to foreign companies wishing to build commercial and scientific partnerships with French firms. Overseas companies will also be able to learn more about the region itself - which leads the way in plant production - with a view to developing their activities in the area (partnerships or new operations). For more information and details on registering for the event, visit the VIBE website.

Following a focus on water management in 2013, the protection of orchards in 2014 and biocontrol in 2015, the future of fruit varieties will take centre stage at the 2016 international Vegepolys Symposium, with scientific contributions and discussions on tomorrow's varieties.

Fruit growing is a highly competitive global economic sector that faces significant social challenges (organoleptic properties of food and support for healthy eating) and environmental constraints (production sustainability and climate change).

Varietal innovation is the highest-level solution to the competitive challenges facing global arboriculture.

SIVAL plays a central role in Plants Week, which is held during the third week of January each year and features a whole series of events dedicated to plants, combining knowledge sharing, collaboration and business, with an overarching emphasis on innovation and the future. These events complement one another, fostering synergies and making for an array of gatherings that is unrivalled in France.
