  • (1888PressRelease) April 15, 2011 - Philadelphia, PA - Both the initiator of "Joint Forces for Solar", EuPD Research, and its supporter Intersolar North America received an overwhelmingly positive feedback from all participants. Topics discussed included the challenges and opportunities facing installers and manufacturers on a global as well local perspective.

"With the second US Photovoltaic Intelligence Breakfast Briefings, we support the main objectives of the Joint Forces for Solar initiative and bring together stakeholders from the US PV market across the entire value chain and give installers a home", notes Markus A.W. Hoehner, CEO of the leading PV market research institute EuPD Research.

In the course of the keynote speeches by Daniela Schreiber (Director, EuPD Research) and Wolfgang Schlichting (Research Director North America, EuPD Research) latest data on the US PV market was shared. Thus, EuPD Research expects installations within the US PV market to increase significantly in 2011 compared to the previous year amounting to a newly installed capacity of 1,900 MW. "Especially against the background of the challenging situation in the feed-in tariff driven markets in Europe, the US PV market with its sustainable growth and huge potential will become particular interesting for the future," said Daniela Schreiber. While growth in the past was driven especially by the Californian market, other states will gain in importance in the future.

"Attractive framework conditions, especially RPS requirements and the SREC system have been key in driving market growth in Pennsylvania and other Mid-Atlantic States", said Wolfgang Schlichting, moderator of the industry panel in Philadelphia. "However, faster than targeted market growth puts price pressure on the SREC system and devalued SRECs could slow the future development of the Pennsylvanian PV market," he cautioned.

Installers from the East and West Coast as well as national and international market participants underlined the importance of the US PV market from a global and local perspective. The highlight of the event was a panel discussion with following key note speakers comprised of Dennis Wilson (President, MidAtlantic Solar Energy Industry Association MSEIA), Matthew Woods (Vice President and General Manager, AEE Solar), Rusty Pittman (Head of Marketing, SolarWorld California), Matthew Sachs (Director of Business Development, Yingli Green Energy). The panel was moderating by EuPD Research.

Due to its success, the event series is to be continued soon. The next event will take place during Intersolar North America between July 12 and 15 in San Francisco - save the date!

    About Joint Forces 4 Solar
Our mission is to bring together PV installers, distributors, module manufacturers, suppliers and end customers in order to jointly promote the benefits of photovoltaic energy, share best-practices and strengthen communication among all stakeholders. Our goal is to accelerate the growth of the PV industry, thus enabling the industry to maximize its fullest potential. This initiative combines three main tools:

    Information and Data-Based Arguments
Information is a key success factor when creating transparency, raising awareness and securing investment. In order to step up their investment in PV, market participants need straightforward access to information. Furthermore, data-based arguments facilitate government support and optimize business (entry) strategies.

    Public Relations & PV Promotion
The information compiled from research and the resulting data-based arguments are ideal for the promotion and communication of the benefits of PV technologies. This increases transparency and awareness which brings about greater government support.

    Networking
This initiative nurtures and grows business relations whilst creating a sustainable infrastructure. It unites key players along the value chain from producers to installers and finally to consumers in order to better meet the needs of the PV community by maximizing the potential the industry has to offer.
