  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) August 06, 2010 - Keno Lucas II in many ways is your typical 11-year-old boy. He prefers pizza to a plate of veggies. He must finish his chores before he can play his Xbox. And he dreams of winning the NBA slam dunk contest. But on closer examination, it is clear that Keno is no ordinary kid.

At the age of 5, with an attitude bent towards enterprise, he recognized the opportunity to generate revenue by selling his artwork. Keno began selling his creations to family and friends. This eventually led to his first business, an online store for his art CoolKeno.com

Even as a five year-old, Keno saw the value in ownership. Today at the ripe old age of 11, Keno has partnered with his mother Atlanta businesswoman Adrienne Lance Lucas by founding The KENO (Kid Entrepreneurs Need Opportunities) Micro-Fund to help kids form their own businesses.

"I love the idea of making money because of something that I created or because of a service that I provided," said the budding business mogul. "I want to help other kids have the same experience and learn what it takes to start a successful business."

The KENO Micro-Fund fosters, grows and nurtures businesses formed by kid entrepreneurs. Team KENO believes that when young people have a real and applicable understanding of financial literacy, legacy wealth creation, and business stewardship, they can change the world for good.

"The KENO Micro-Fund goes far beyond igniting enthusiasm for entrepreneurship," said Adrienne Lance Lucas, KENO Co-founder, "Participants are challenged to understand how their role as business leaders can create personal empowerment and can benefit their local and global communities."

In an effort to make a global impact, the KENO Micro-Fund will make a trade mission to Ghana later this month. A portion of the profits generated from KENO funded businesses will be used to offer micro-loans to students from the Community Children's Center in Ghana. By partnering with the Community Children's Center, the KENO Micro-Fund begins to realize its mission to make a global impact on children's lives and financial future.
