  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) April 27, 2013 - WHAT:
Promoting one of their fundamental values, eliminating prejudice and discrimination, Adelphi University's Pi Lambda Phi fraternity brothers are organizing "Walk a Mile in Her Shoes." Approximately 20 brothers, belonging to the first non-sectarian fraternity, will be walking in heels around the Flagpole Lawn at Adelphi University to increase gender equality and raise awareness about gender-related issues such as sexual violence and domestic violence. The proceeds from the fundraiser event will be donated to Suffolk Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Elimination of Prejudice. If enough funds are raised, some of the brothers will also be wearing dresses.

The brothers explain that they are cognizant of the problem, how it affects the lives of women and want to help solve it. They care because these problems are faced by all women-women from among their families, friends and community as a whole.
