  • (1888PressRelease) December 19, 2016 - "The Ashes go to Oz" by Liss Griffiths is published( ISBN #978-1787191105) About the Book: It's 1997 - two sisters are on a mission - the ashes are going 'down under'. Amelia and Annie Ashe's longed-for holiday is in remembrance of their father - he had been such a cricket fan. Annie's last wish was to be laid to rest in Melbourne, and it's her ashes, lovingly accompanied by elderly sister Amelia, that are bound for Oz. But the journey's fraught with complications, not to mention a mix-up with the other famous ashes! Still, help is at hand and romance is in the air for Amelia...

Amelia's tale is curiously linked with the fortunes of another - Clare Fuller, nanny to two young boys in Singapore back in 1955. A lifelong secret eventually brings the two women together in 1998 - in Cornwall - with surprising connections.

"The Ashes Go to Oz" is an engaging and heart-warming story - a poignant plot, sensitively told, that won't fail to delight.

    Excerpt from the Book:
"The Ashe sisters had been saving for years for this adventure; nothing, yet nothing, was going to stop them from living their dream. At last the eve of their holiday arrived - tomorrow they would be taking their first steps on a journey to the other side of the world.
Amelia said her good-night to Annie and whispered, before gently closing her sister's door, what she hoped wasn't going to be a problem. "Don't forget, dear - we do need to share a bedroom on this holiday. I pray that it won't be too much of an upheaval for you. Nighty night."

    5.0 out of 5 stars A 'Feel-good' read!
By Gerry Neill on 14 Nov. 2012
    Format: Paperback

The Ashes Go to Oz is a thoroughly entertaining and enjoyable read, with much humour and witty repartee in the opening and closing chapters. The middle section takes us back to an earlier year, which, as we find out at the end, links the characters. I recommend it to readers who like to end a book with a smile on their face!

A neat quirky read about a dear old Lady, this story is not about cricket and has a terrific twist in the tail, you will need to read it to find out - what! It's a nice 'light' read.
