  • (1888PressRelease) April 18, 2015 - Streaming live on the Co-Creator Radio Network on Tuesday, April 21, at 11am Pacific/2pm Eastern on "Why Shamanism Now? A Practical Path to Authenticity," shaman and founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing Christina Pratt talks with Kate Smith, founder of Journeysmith, note that shamans are made by spirit, through initiation and training, to become the answer to the prayers of the people. What could the world community of shamanic practitioners and healers, contemporary and traditional, become if they truly believed they were the medicine for the illnesses of humanity in their time? Accoridng to Pratt and Smith, shamans don't just drink ayahuasca, do ceremony in workshops, and heal individual people one at a time. They restore health in communities, balance and harmony to the earth and remedy the old dream where it has, in reality, become a nightmare.

In this episode of "Why Shamanism Now?" titled "Shamanic Skills for the New World: Part 2", Pratt continues her conversations with Smith, as they continue their discussion of the transformations we must engage in to become the New People who share the shamanic skills needed for us to create a more beautiful and sustainable New World.

Christina Pratt is a contemporary shaman specializing in mending the soul and transforming the parts of life that feel impossible. A teacher of exceptional clarity, humor, and inspiration, Pratt brings the power of shamanism into the practical grasp of anyone willing to take responsibility for improving the quality of their life. Her book An Encyclopedia of Shamanism clearly discusses the basic concepts of shamanism, methods, and traditions of over 50 different shamanic peoples. Pratt is the founder of the Last Mask Center for Shamanic Healing, creator of the original Foundations of Shamanism and Shamanic Healing course at the University of Minnesota, and a frequent and honored speaker for the American Holistic Medical Association.

Kate Smith has a BA in Chemistry from Princeton University and a PhD in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University. For nearly two decades, she worked in academia and the pharmaceutical industry before becoming a 'smith' of shamanic power tools under the tutelage and inspiration of Susanne and Eric Humaidan. Smith has studied shamanism since 2006 with Alberto Villoldo, Christina Pratt and Malidoma Somé. In 2012, Smith started Journeysmith, a shamanic art studio devoted to creating finely crafted spiritual power tools - drums, rattles and other instruments that bridge ordinary and non-ordinary reality. Smith offers these tools as a way to help others stay true to themselves, re-discover their connection with the earth and align with all that is authentic in their life's journey. www.journeysmith.com, https://www.facebook.com/Journeysmithshamanictools
