"Break the Chains to Change" Teen Dating Violence Awareness Fundraiser

Top Quote Young adult dating violence is a big problem, affecting youth in every community across the nation. Only 33% of students who were in a violent relationship, report that they have been hit, slapped, punched, or otherwise hurt by a boyfriend/girlfriend. One in three adolescents in the U.S. is a victim of physical, sexual, emotional or verbal abuse from a dating partner. End Quote
  • Milwaukee-Waukesha, WI (1888PressRelease) February 23, 2012 - Sadly, 81% of parents believe teen dating violence is not an issue or admit they don't know if it's an issue. For this reason, our next quarterly domestic violence awareness project is focusing on educating adults and parents on Teen Dating Violence on Sunday, February 26th, 2012. This event will help raise awareness regarding domestic violence, the warning signs, escape and prevention.

We often hear about other health awareness events in our communities, but not domestic violence. In our opinion, this seems to be a hidden topic that has unfortunately become an acceptance and disregarded as if it's not a serious issue. This eventually becomes a never ending cycle and generational curse.

It's time to take a stand and we are inviting you to help bring domestic violence awareness to our community. Therefore, my company, Masterpiece Enterprises, and the Milwaukee Steppers & Ballroomers United (MSBU), will hold the "Break the Chains to Change" Teen Dating Domestic Violence Awareness event on Sunday, February 26th at Gene's Lanes in Milwaukee, WI at 6pm. There will be food, live entertainment by Christopher's Project featuring Joe Jordan and Spoken Word by Muhibb Dyer. Part of the proceeds raised will benefit Urban Underground Youth Organization. Our Alliance partners Brew City Corvette Club, BLEU, and ANAJA Enterprises stand in full support of fighting teen dating violence.
