  • (1888PressRelease) April 11, 2014 - Westlake Village, CA. - The Tushita Kadampa Buddhist Center (TKBC) invites the Conejo Valley community to join in a Walk for World Peace fundraiser along the Pentachaeta Trail in Westlake Village on Saturday, May 3rd from 9 am until noon. Following the hike, there will be a picnic lunch at The Landing in Westlake from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm. $50.00 per person or per family donation is requested.

The Pentachaeta Trail, the main feature of Triunfo Creek Park, is named for the Pentachaeta Lyonii, an annual flowering plant and federally listed endangered species and is one of only a few areas where it can be found. The yellow, daisy-like flower blooms between April and June.

The Walk for Peace fundraiser will provide much-needed support for the Center. For six years TKBC has offered classes in Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Newbury Park, Calabasas and other surrounding communities, helping people of all ages and walks of life discover inner peace through meditation.

Funds raised by Walk for Peace hikers will help TKBC continue to offer a wide range of educational programs and enable improvements to the Center bookstore and its facilities. A portion of what is raised will also benefit the New Kadampa Tradition International Temples Project, a non-profit organization dedicated to building Temples for World Peace in every country around the world.

The TKBC Walk for Peace Goal is to raise $10,000. Participants may contribute whatever they can, either by individual donation or by asking others to sponsor them. If unable to attend the Center asks interested community members to consider sponsoring a walker.

The TKBC invites the community to be part of a peaceful transformation that is so vital in today's world. When each one of us experiences peace as individuals the whole world will be at peace. By inviting people to contribute to your hike, or simply joining the walk, you will help increase the force of the wish that all living beings experience peace individually and collectively.
