  • New Orleans, LA (1888PressRelease) July 22, 2015 - Eric Wilder completed Big Easy just before Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans and the Gulf coast. The storm destroyed homes and lives and displaced thousands. Many never returned. At the time, Wilder said, "I feared the city might not survive."

Big Easy languished on the author's shelf until he was able to deal with the disaster. When he did, he rewrote the novel with reference to the killer hurricane. Three more mysteries, City of Spirits, Primal Creatures, and Black Magic Woman followed. River Road, book five of the popular series is near completion.

New Orleans not only survived Katrina, it has prospered. Wilder's novel, like the city, has adapted and endured. The Anniversary Edition commemorates the wonderful people of New Orleans for their pride, stamina, and resilience, and for returning from one of the worst disasters in U.S. history.

Here is what readers have said about the French Quarter Mystery Series: If you try, you can hear a zydeco band and smell gumbo cooking on every page. Wilder captures the quirky, weird vibe that is New Orleans. He makes you want to have a Dixie beer with his characters. His fiction is like an ice cold, hurricane slush on a hot Louisiana day.

Wilder grew up in Louisiana spending sweltering evenings listening to his grandmother's ghost stories and tales of voodoo. Though just a boy, he never forgot her haunting words. He now lives in Oklahoma, about a mile from historic Route 66.

Big Easy, ISBN: 978-0-9791165-8-2, retails for $14.95 as a paperback original, and $2.99 as an eBook. It is available on the web at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Apple iBooks, Kobo, and Sony.
