  • (1888PressRelease) April 13, 2012 - New York, New York - Morgan James Publishing, the leading publisher of entrepreneurial authors providing the vital information, inspiration, guidance, and distribution they need to be successful, today announced a new fiction imprint in partnership with Virginia-based Köehler Books.

Under the New Köehler Books imprint, Morgan James will publish good books that authors are proud of and readers crave. Selective without being demeaning. Seeking talented writers, first and foremost, but authors with an entrepreneurial flair, willing to help sell their books through the creation of the provided coordinated marketing program.

Alongside Morgan James titles, the new Köehler Books imprint titles are distributed in partnership with Ingram Content Group's Ingram Publisher Services (IPS) and CoreSource. "From its inception, Morgan James turned to Ingram to help create a new business model for publishing, one that enables authors to build and grow a business," said David "Skip" Prichard, President and CEO, Ingram Content Group. "We are proud to have played a role in their incredible success story and look forward to our continued work together as they expand their program into fiction."

One of Morgan James' core values is centered around building strong and mutually beneficial relationships. David L. Hancock, Morgan James Publishing Founder and CEO, says "We have spent years developing many of the key business relationships that have allowed us to get books in bookstores and obtain widespread Web coverage. The intentional development of positive relationships with people in all facets of our business, including our authors, is unique in the industry and translates into a very real strategic advantage."

John Köehler, founder of Köehler Books, said he was attracted to Morgan James because of it's high ethical standards and commitment to excellence. "Whether you call it a 'God thing' or just plain luck, meeting David and having the opportunity to become an imprint of Morgan James is huge for Köehler Books, and for me personally, I feel like we just got called up to the major leagues. The entire time we were building our company we were swinging big, thinking big, acting as much as possible like the big boys, hoping we'd get called up, get invited to 'the Show.' So now we're a little star struck, truth be told. But that won't last long! We're already up at bat, bringing in new books. But now, we're no longer wearing a minor league uniform. We're in the Bigs! It is probably the biggest and certainly coolest achievement in my entire career.

"I think the real reason why this is a perfect fit is that David and I essentially are simpatico about our desire to publish great books. It starts with great work, followed by great authors. David and I both are writers, and know firsthand how poorly writers can be treated. We want writers and authors to feel respected and important. We want the entire process to be lifegiving. And we want them to come out the other end of the process changed for the better, smarter and capable of getting behind their book as an entrepreneurial partner.

"We know how to craft great books, otherwise Morgan James would never have invited us to the Show. But the thing we never had was access, access to the Morgan James ridiculously smart Mastermind program for authors, to their refined systems and methods of work, and access to Ingram Publisher Services. Dude, for a small Indie publisher (which we were) the dream of getting picked up by IPS is like publishing nirvana. Morgan James gives us access to IPS. Now we don't have to do the Indie Hop with booksellers to prove that we're legit. As an imprint of Morgan James, we ARE legit. We're invited, we're in. I think I'm underdressed."

22 titles will be launching the new Köehler Books imprint including an exciting new series called "Virginia Beach Murder Mystery Books". All front list titles will be featured in Trade Paper, eBook and Audio with available Foreign Rights. Köehler Books is accepting new submissions now.
