Laboratory Testing Inc. Sponsors ASM Materials Camp at Drexel University
LTI is proud to sponsor the 12th annual ASM Philadelphia Materials Camp for high school students interested in the field of materials science and engineering. The event will take place at Drexel University on June 20-24, 2016 and includes lectures, lab sessions, an industry event and a project activity. LTI is a sustaining member of ASM International and has sponsored the event for several years.
- (1888PressRelease) May 27, 2016 - Laboratory Testing Inc. (LTI) is proud to sponsor the twelfth annual Materials Camp at Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA from June 20 - 24, 2016. The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Drexel University hosts the week-long event, providing high school students an opportunity to explore the field of materials science and engineering. Laboratory Testing Inc. is a Materials Testing Lab in the Philadelphia area with over 30 years of experience in testing, inspecting and analyzing metals, alloys, polymers, composites and ceramics.
Materials Camp activities will include short lectures, laboratory sessions, an industry visit and a team engineering design project. Students will learn about the process, structure, properties and use of different types of materials during lab sessions, including metals, polymers, ceramics, composites and nanomaterials. Throughout the week, hands-on activities will include electron microscopy, heat treating, tensile and impact testing of metals, and more. Participating students will also have the opportunity to network with industry professionals and explore college and career options.
Materials Camps are held at various locations across North America, as well as in France and India, through an ongoing project of ASM International. The ASM Philadelphia "Liberty Bell" Chapter coordinates the Drexel University event by way of sponsorships from Chapter members made through the ASM Materials Education Foundation. LTI is a sustaining member of ASM International and has a number of employees actively participating in the "Liberty Bell" Chapter. The Lab has sponsored the Camp for several years.

"The Lab is very supportive of those choosing careers in materials sciences and engineering. Our Lab has hired many employees who have earned their degrees in this field and also provides summer positions to interns from Drexel and other Philadelphia-area universities to provide on-the-job training and work experience."
LTI services customers throughout the United States, as well as some areas of Canada, South America and Europe. Chemistry, Fracture Mechanics, and Metallurgical, Mechanical and Nondestructive Testing are performed at LTI with documented test results provided in Certified Reports. The in-house Machine Shop prepares all test specimens and failure analysis services are offered. A Metrology Division specializes in Calibration Services and Dimensional Inspection.
