  • (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2016 - Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust was judged to be leading the way with its sustainability projects managed by consultants CarbonArchitecture.co.uk which demonstrated environmental, financial and health impacts and bring strategic technological advancements together with wider engagement on sustainability.

The Trust's core focus of waste, energy and water efficiency solutions is reducing carbon emissions by almost 50% while a combined heat & power unit is on target to make savings of £225,000 a year!

The new CHP Energy Centre allows the Trust to generate its own electricity and utilise the waste heat to generate hot water, providing 40% improved efficiency compared with grid electricity and a boiler. The new CHP has provided financial savings since day one, with electricity consumption halved in its first month of operation.

Other trusts nominated were Croydon Health Services and Kingston Hospital.
