  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) December 01, 2016 - Adaptive technology highlights the 31 Nights of Light Event on December 3rd to honor the achievements of individuals with disabilities. ReWalk Robotics, the makers of the exoskeleton robot which enable individuals to walk again, will be showcased by Andy Dolan, the Director of Product Management at ReWalk Robotics and Gene Laureano a retired Army Specialist who suffered a Spinal Cord Injury.

When asked about the upcoming participation of ReWalk in the 31 Nights of Light event honoring the non-profit NTI, Dolan stated, "ReWalk congratulates, and is proud to help recognize, NTI for their achievements in placing a person with disabilities in the workforce. Both organizations aim to positively affect the quality of life for personals with disability and are humbled and inspired by the perseverance of so many we work with, including those featured at this fantastic event."

The ReWalk exoskeleton provides Gene who has a severe mobility impairment, the ability of movement. The ReWalk exoskeleton is a wearable robotic exoskeleton that provides powered hip and knee motion to enable individuals with spinal cord injury (SCI) to stand upright, walk, and turn. When Gene was asked, what does it feel like to use the ReWalk System, he said: "That he felt alive again and never thought he would ever be able to stand up on his own." At the 31 Nights event, Andy will talk about the technical aspects of the device while Gene demonstrates the full scope of its capabilities.

The ReWalk device has been tested to extremes as seen in the most recent Cybathlon, an adaptive Olympics, where individuals utilize prosthetics to compete. ReWalk supplied Andre van Rüschen with an exoskeleton which led to the Gold Medal in the Exoskeleton Event.

You can watch Gene walk again at the Prudential Center in Boston, MA during the 31 Nights of Light Event on December 3rd, 2016 from 4:30-7:30 PM. The event, which is held on the United Nations International Day of Persons with Disabilities, will highlight the achievements of NTI's work with helping Americans with Disabilities back into the workplace.

The event is free and open to the public as well as the media. The ceremony and technology demonstrations will be held in the Atrium of the Prudential Building on December 3rd, between 4:30-7:30 pm.
