The global aerospace company has come on board to sponsor the cross-sector economic relief initiative that aims to empower 1 million women in India with a sustainable future – by curating actionable digital solutions to provide economic relief.

Beyond #empowHERfamily, Boeing India will also support 50 Cloud Skilling Scholarships for WIC’s Digital Skilling Initiative, to be distributed through the WIC Center of Excellence in India, which opened at RVCE last month. Boeing will also collaborate with RVCE to drive mentorship and support for 25 RVCE students within the Center of Excellence.

“We are grateful for Boeing India’s sponsorship of the #empowHERfamily initiative and commitment to the Women in Cloud Center of Excellence,” said Chaitra Vedullapalli, President and Co-Founder of Women in Cloud. “We are certain that their sponsorship will greatly help women in India build the Cloud and AI skills they need to be successful in technology. This additional contribution will allow us to provide more access and resources for women in India to realize their potential in the $4.5 Trillion ecosystem.”

A March 2020 NASSCOM report, “India's Tech Industry: Women For The Techade”, states that women constitute only 35 percent of India's technology industry. According to the IDC Report, the overall Indian public cloud services market alone is expected to reach $10.8 billion by 2025, growing at a CAGR of 24.1 per cent for 2020-25, and presents a substantial opportunity for women to be part of.

Boeing has been a strong partner of India’s aerospace sector for almost eight decades, both as the mainstay of India’s commercial aviation sector as well as an important partner in the mission readiness and modernization of India’s defense forces. As a socially responsible business, Boeing is committed to improving the quality of life across communities among which it operates. Through various programs and initiatives, Boeing has inspired change and made a positive impact on more than 5,00,000 lives in India.

“Digital skilling and education unlocks immense potential for tomorrow’s innovation and breakthrough technology advancements,” said Aarti Singh, Director IT&DA and CIO, Boeing India. “At Boeing, we believe women make us better, and we are pleased to partner with WIC and RVCE to support unique programs like #empowerHERfamily and the WIC Center of Excellence that provide the tools and access for women to be a key part of economic opportunities in technology.”
