  • (1888PressRelease) September 06, 2009 - Washington Plantation Bed and Breakfast in Washington, Georgia, is already well known for the discounts it extends to active duty and retired members of the Armed Forces. Ever since the inn opened in 2004, Tom and Barbara Chase, Washington Plantation's owners, have offered 20% discounts to military, police and fire fighters, any time with no minimum stay.

Tom and Barbara's web site, www.washingtonplantation.com, explains the reason for the discount: “Your host, Tom Chase, is a 5th Special Forces veteran from Vietnam days. Barbara and I express our appreciation for your service and dedication to keep our country and communities safe. If you are eligible for another special, take off an additional 5%. This special will never go away!”

Tom and Barbara have taken this spirit a step farther: they have decided to sweeten the offer for military personnel who are either scheduled for deployment or are returning from deployment. “We've had lots of guests, either coming from or going to war, who wanted a special interlude with their loved one”, Tom explained. “I can remember from my own service time how much it meant to spend a couple of days with the one I loved, away from the flag pole. It was even sweeter when I was going away for a while, or when I returned.”

The deal the Chases are offering is this: any serviceman or woman either scheduled for deployment to a war zone within 45 days, or who has returned from such a deployment within 30 days, is eligible for a 33% discount on a two-day (or more) stay, any day of the week with no blackouts. The regular 20% discount for all others remains in place.
Washington Plantation Bed and Breakfast is the ideal place for this special kind of getaway. Ranked as one of the “Top Ten Romantic Inns” by the American Historic Inns website a couple of years ago, and top-ranked by guest reviewers on Trip Advisor .com and Bed and Breakfast .com, Washington Plantation offers five sumptuous bed rooms, all with working fire places, private baths, individual heat and AC controls, 1000-count Egyptian cotton sheets, and spa robes and slippers.

The breakfasts have been called “Country Gourmet”, and other meals, such as a private five-course dinner or a picnic lunch, are available. Wine and cheese are served in the afternoon on the veranda, weather permitting, or in the parlor by the fireplace.

During the day, the charming antebellum City of Washington offers fine museums, fine restaurants, great shopping, and numerous special events throughout the year. Barbara Chase says, though, “Mostly, folks being deployed or just back just want to be together, and we understand that. Want to be social? We're ready. Want to be left alone? We're ready for that, too! These young (or not so young) people are the salt of the earth, and they're treated that way at Washington Plantation. They've earned it.”

Washington Plantation Bed and Breakfast is located 40 miles from Fort Gordon, 180 miles from Fort Stewart, 200 miles from Fort Benning, and about 200 miles from Army, Navy, Marine and Air Force bases in Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Savannah, and St.Marys, Georgia. Fort Bragg is less than 5 hours away.
