  • (1888PressRelease) January 03, 2016 - "The medical equipment and machines we know today are massive - MRI machines, CT scans, ultrasound machines - but now we need more. We need machines that are portable, and can perform the same tasks as their humongous counterparts, perhaps more efficiently."

Futurist, technology enthusiast and marketing expert Mr. Chad Lieberman made these statements in his introductory address at a key-note address discussing the future of medicine and how technology can contribute to better healthcare, held recently in New York City.

During the address, Mr. Chad Ian Lieberman described the future of diagnostic medicine: extremely small implants which can be used for testing and diagnostic purposes as well as providing alerts to medical caregivers regarding patient status, eliminating the cost of routine consultative visits every so often.

Currently, he described, the technology is under research in Holland, where researchers claim to have developed a pill which can be loaded with some medicine. When swallowed, the pill can be programmed to travel to a specific area of the body and unload the drug, further developing localized medical care.

Elsewhere in the University of Texas, there is ongoing research on a device the size of a pen which can be used to detect melanoma, eliminating the need for a biopsy. "There are demands from medical practitioners to create equipment with more functionality and increased portability, and with the way research is going, this will happen in not-too-distant a future," he noted.

Mr. Chad Lieberman added that the increasing cost of health care and the demand for shorter hospital visits has created an urgent need for high-level, portable monitoring medical equipment which a patient can travel with after being released.

"For this to work, all medical equipment currently being used must be considered suitable candidates for miniaturization," he said, adding in conclusion, "This is all possible considering the micro-chip technology where miniature chips are used to power huge devices and appliances. Perhaps in future we will see wearable patient monitoring devices among other miniature devices coming into the market."
