  • (1888PressRelease) May 10, 2008 - Top UK ActionCOACH Nick Ruddle swaps his business suit for a soccer uniform when he teams up as part of England’s “Celebrity 11” – with Robbie Williams, Jude Law and Rod Stewart – as part of “Brit Week” in a celebrity soccer match that precedes the LA Galaxy vs. New York Red Bulls game on May 10 at the Home Depot Center in Los Angeles.

“This is a dream come true,” Ruddle says. “To be playing alongside some of the best known British people in the world against a ‘Rest of the World’ team featuring Russell Crowe is just amazing.” The match is part of “Brit Week” in Los Angeles, commemorating 50 years of British connections with the city.

Since 1958, official residence of the British Consul General in Los Angeles has been located in a stately mansion in Hancock Park, and has been a focal point for many connections between Britain and Los Angeles. In celebration of this Golden Anniversary, a program of “Brit Week” events will highlight the rich relationship between the British and the City of Angels. Ruddle, who once had a trial with Tottenham Hotspur of England’s Premier League, is currently one of the UK’s top business coaches, coaching small businesses in East Anglia to maximize profit and performance.

“There are a lot of parallels between sports coaches and business coaches,” Ruddle says. “We’re all familiar with the idea of David Beckham, Tiger Woods and Jonny Wilkinson having a coach, and these guys are at the top of their game. “That’s exactly why business owners need a coach, whether they’re just starting out in business or whether it’s helping keeping them focused right at the top of their industry, business coaching will and does improve their performance.”

At the match, David Beckham is scheduled to toss the coin at the start of the game, and famed Dutch player Rudd Gullitt is scheduled to officiate.
“I still don’t believe it’s happening and this is a definite life time experience,” Ruddle says.
