  • (1888PressRelease) June 04, 2008 - Las Vegas, Nevada, The Asian American Group, hosted the “Meet with the Judges” event on Thursday, March 20, 2008. The event was well attended with ten Judges and five candidates and many had lengthy conversations with Las Vegas liaison Dr. Neal Mahraj whom represented the group with aggressive questioning and extensive policy, platform and background fodder. The event was planned to enable the Asian Community to emphasize the importance of integration and cooperation of all different Asian communities under one strong and cohesive entity. The Asian American event was designed to help the community understand the candidate’s before they vote. The event was held at The Italian American Club, 2333 East Sahara Ave, and was open to the general public.

    In attendance were special guests Justice Mark Gibbons - Nevada Supreme Court and Dr.Neal Maharaj, the clubs liaison to Fiji Island. Also in attendance were, Judge Doug Smith, Judge Donald Mosley, Judge Susan Johnson, Judge Michael Villani, Judge Michelle Leavitt, Judge Sandra Pomrenze, Judge Cheryl Moss, Judge Dianne Steel, Judge Lisa Kent, Judge Jennifer Elliot, Hearing Master Frank Sullivan, Asst. Family Court Clerk John Jensen. Also in attendance were Candidates, Atty. Linda Bell, Atty. David J Rivers, Atty. David Gibson Sr., Atty. Chris Lee, Atty. Thomas Kurth, and Atty. Nancy Allf.

    The Groups mission is to create awareness and within the Asian communities regarding political and social issues that can impact the future of Asians in the Sate of Nevada, and to encourage and support Asian leaders to acquire public offices through elections and appointments. In addition they actively cultivate and preserve each Asian unique culture, values and traditions by sharing, organizing, participating and celebrating all cultural festivities with the ultimate intent of promoting and presenting a strong unity among Asians as well the promoting and encouraging the active involvement of all Asian youth in various social and political functions in order to ensure a steady continuous establishment of the current entity. It is their pledge to continuously provide opportunities and information for Asians to broaden and strength their understanding of mainstream American's traditions and way of life with the ultimate goal of assisting Asians to assimilate comfortably into the American culture.
