  • Dothan, AL (1888PressRelease) February 02, 2014 - Singing and Music are changing the face of Traditional Therapies around the world, with headlines like "Local Autistic Boy Making Great Strides with Music Therapy" or "Singing Therapy Helps Stroke Patients Speak", according to the owner of Harvest's Karaoke Kingdom. The only international family karaoke center in Alabama.

Harvest Hunter is a Master Practitioner of Traditional Chinese/Energy Medicine and has served the families of the Wiregrass area for over eight years, providing Wellness Care, Healing Retreats, Family Mediation and Life Coaching.

Karaoke is Not Just for Bars!! Master Hunter says, "Not only does singing have the power to bring family and friends together, but it is now proven to improve the results of many medical and psychological therapies.

For the past 15 years leading scientific researchers like Dr. Gottrried Schlaug M.D. a neurology professor at Harvard Medical School; Dr. Gene D. Cohen, Director of the Center on Aging, Health, and Humanities at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.; even the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations provided scientific evidence to substantiate the effectiveness of singing and music therapy. Professor Clive Ballard, Director of Research at the Alzheimer's Society and Professor of Age Related Diseases at King's College London, said "The part of the brain that works with speech is different than the part that processes music and song."

Master Hunter, said "Many people dealing with issues like dementia, memory loss, recovering speech after a stroke, autism, PTSD, weak immune systems, depression, hypertension, or just in need of a break, could benefit from regular visits to Harvest's Karaoke Kingdom.

Master Hunter spoke on the possible economic benefits of Dothan having Alabama's only international family karaoke facility, at a time when attracting international business to the Wiregrass is a major issue. He said, "It's just good business to demonstrate a commitment to diversity when attracting potential international investors. Family karaoke can be a factor as a familiar family entertainment venue that is already appreciated and accepted as part of their society. Having a place where guests can bring in home cooked meals and sing songs in their native languages helps to create a feeling of home."

Harvest's Karaoke Kingdom is not a music or singing therapy facility. According to Master Hunter, it was designed to enhance the effectiveness of music and singing while being an alcohol and smoke free family karaoke center for small to midsize functions. The Kingdom is located at 857 Honeysuckle Rd. Suite 1 and is open Wednesday through Sunday. Free community outreach service is offered to Wiregrass Senior Care facilities.
