  • (1888PressRelease) January 29, 2014 - Aficionados of fine food and spirits are getting their plaid on and snapping up tickets to the Third Annual Robbie Burnstein Dinner thanks to some mouth-watering news.

Calgary-based Gold Medal Marketing Inc. will be sponsoring an exclusive tasting of single malt whiskies during the cocktail hour and selecting spirits to complement the unique Burns Night gastronomy. The cocktail hour and feast will feature delightful fusion cuisine like haggis wellington wrapped in phyllo pastry and time-honoured Burns standards including cock-a-leekie soup.

"We are thrilled to welcome Gold Medal Marketing to our Burnstein tradition," said event originator and chair Leonard Seidman. "Gold Medal searches the globe for fine single malt scotch and other premium spirits and wines, sharing our vision that cultural fusion is the best recipe for fabulous food, spirits and camaraderie."

Burnstein toasts the memory of 18th Century Scottish poet Robert Burns with a Jewish twist. This year the event will feature performances by the Calgary Police Service Pipe Band and the Calgary Burns Club Singers. Beth Tzedec Rabbi and resident chef Shaul Osadchey will prepare the "Jewish Haggis" and supervise the preparation of a delectable kosher and Highland-inspired dinner by the Fairmont Palliser Hotel.

Proceeds will support community outreach by Beth Tzedec and the Prostate Cancer Centre.

"When we bottle Single Malt Whisky, it is our tradition to give back to the community by supporting worthy local causes," said Gold Medal Principal Andy Dunn.

"We are thrilled to lend our support to Beth Tzedec and the Prostate Cancer Centre while introducing Burnstein guests to some great distilleries including Benromach, Kilchoman, Springbank and Tullibardine."

The Third Annual Robbie Burnstein Dinner takes place Thursday February 13, 2014 at Beth Tzedec, 1325 Glenmore Trail SW. For details, visit www.RobbieBurnstein.com.
