Renowned artist and DreamWorks Studio animator, Devin Crane, teams up with bforacure.com to raise money for breast health charities

Los Angeles-based artist, Devin Crane, is painting a new piece for the 'b for a cure' project benefiting breast health charities. Combining his family's past experience with breast cancer and ability to uniquely portray the female figure, Devin hopes to capture the second chance at life all breast cancer suffers hope to embrace. (1888PressRelease) March 31, 2010 - Los Angeles, CA - Channeling his past experience with the unprejudiced reach of cancer in his family, internationally recognized painter, Devin Crane, will put brush to canvas in the namesake piece 'b for a cure' to help raise funds and awareness for breast health charities. Symbolizing the second chance at life that all breast cancer survivors embrace, the work will feature the innocent rebirth of a bare breasted woman surrounded by butterflies. Devin's painting will be featured in the inaugural edition of the b for a cure coffee table book and separately sold through one of his partner galleries.

The Concept
To highlight the magnificence of breasts and the importance of their health, b for a cure is undertaking a unique project that will compile black and white photographs of anonymous nude breasts in a coffee table book format. Subjects will span all walks of life and will include everyday women, celebrities and politicians. The project will be released in limited editions annually, with a portion of the net proceeds donated to charities supporting breast health.

The Photographer
Peter Bruce was born in Australia and spent much of his life traveling the globe. He's a seasoned professional, experienced in many styles of photography. During his career, Peter has worked with a variety of clients, including Playboy, the Melbourne Opera as well as shooting for major movie studios in Hollywood.
In the past, Peter has worked with several celebrities, including: Michael Caine, Elton John, Dustin Hoffman, Frank Sinatra, Peter Gabriel, Eddie Albert, Corbin Bernsen, Seymore Caselle, David Carradine, James Coburn, Bill Cosby, Kim Delaney, Matt Dillon, Robin Givens, Dana Gould, Englebert Humperdink, Ed McMahon, John Savage, Jerry Seinfeld, Jimmy Smits, Kevin Spacey, Ming-Na Wen and Vanessa Williams.

After his wife participated in a 3-day walk in support of breast cancer awareness, Peter became more cognizant about the size and severity of the affliction. Through discussions with family and friends, he was encouraged to use his skill as a photographer and past experience with the beauty of the female figure to raise breast cancer awareness.

Devin Crane
A native of Los Angeles, Devin Crane's background is as diverse as the city he calls home. Devin has been a professional in the film industry for the past 15 years, lending his dynamic talents to Oscar nominated films such as Shrek 2 and the acclaimed Iron Giant. The last 5 years Devin has shifted his artistic efforts to painting and exhibiting internationally. "I think my background in film gives my paintings a different edge. I want the images I create to stay with the viewer long after they leave my exhibit."

Devin Crane's work captures the human condition giving his audience stolen moments that they can all relate to. His exaggerated forms, features, dynamic color and fashion pull in the viewer demanding a second look. Devin loves to incorporate fashion into his work. Dior, Lagerfeld and Valentino are amongst Devin's fashion heroes. Many of the dresses in Devin's paintings are his own designs. Devin's work can be found in private collections across the globe from Los Angeles, Texas, Boston, Atlanta, Miami, New York, Hong Kong, and Rome. His first solo exhibit in Paris, France will be held at Gallerie Arludik on May 26, 2010.

B(e) Somebody
b for a cure is currently photographing three hundred (300) female models in San Francisco, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Miami and New York for its inaugural edition. Women of any cup size, age and ethnicity are encouraged to sign-up at http://www.bforacure.com/bsomebody. Subject photos will be anonymous, with only nude breasts shown in the photographs for this project. No faces or bodies will be revealed in the book.
