  • Austin-San Marcos, TX (1888PressRelease) April 07, 2010 - Kat Cairns - Having recently relocated to Austin from Northern California, Kat's music career has taken a new and exciting direction. Kat was raised on a steady diet of Texas blues, and Patsy Cline twang, along with solid rock sensibilities. Kat brings to her music today 15 years of voice training, a firm foundation and the strong sense of history and form.

Since joining Red Alert (www.coverband80s.com), Austin's best-loved and most- respected 80's cover band, it has offered her an opportunity to show off her versatility with great music from an "awesome" decade!

She began singing professionally in 1992 and received a phenomenal response from audiences with her rough and tumble voice and her engaging, energetic style. Her vocal styling have often been compared to those of Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt, Grace Slick, and yet she delivers the fresh outlook that only a new generation of bluesy rock singers can capture.

She has performed at over 800 shows at major festivals and clubs throughout the West Coast, performing alongside such notables as Delbert McClinton, Elvin Bishop, John Mayall, Van Morrison, Angela Strehli, Maria Muldaur, Trisha Yearwood, Edgar Winter and Etta James.
