This collection, translated by Vesna Stamenkovic, was originally published by Gramatik, publishers in Belgrade, Serbia.

    Since Srbinovic' debut in 1961 with Unlocked Gates, she has authored 21 other collections of poetry, including Wings of Destiny, Pomegranate Rubies, and The Dream of Byzantium. These collections were published by a host of leading publishers in the former Yugoslavia.

    About the Author
    VERA SRBINOVIC was born in Belgrade. After studying English and literature at the University of Belgrade, she went abroad and has lived in The Hague, The Netherlands since 1963. She was awarded the Milica Stojadinovic Srpkinja prize for poetry in 2002 (Novi Sad, Serbia), and the Rastko Petrovic literary prize in 2005 (Belgrade, Serbia).
