Ordinary Americans Demand A Constitutional Convention

Top Quote The average merican has lost the opportunity to change the government by his or her vote. Big money buys the laws it wants and gets them enforced or ignored by the Federal law enforcement officials. The president refuses to enforce the constitution, therefore our borders are as porous as our state lines. End Quote

Ordinary Americans launch website to get citizens to demand a constitutional convention. @ www.helpchangeamerica.com

Fayetteville, NC - December, 12-05-2006 - The Federal Government, consisting of the president and the congress have come to the point that they only respond to, pass, and enforce laws for big business, national, and international corporations.

The average American, meaning middle class, has no voice or representation in Washington today. Our government is sold to those that contribute to the winning candidates' campaign. In other words, we have the best government that money can buy.

The Constitution has been amended at least 27 times in its 212-year history. Congress proposed and wrote all of the amendments as authorized under Article V, which establishes procedures for the proposal and ratification of amendments. However, another section of Article V—allows the average citizen to request, through their state legislatures, that Congress call a constitutional convention. If 37 or 38 state legislatures petition for it, congress must call the convention. According to Richard Labunski, "The American people must dedicate themselves to forcing their elected officials to schedule such a conventition if the people are to reclaim their government from those who are no longer answerable through the ordinary process of a representative democracy". It is evident in our present system of government, that it is only representative of the,"elite.

Several changes need to occur through a constitutional convention.

    1. Provide for clean elections, (public funds pay for all candidates campaign expenses) No private funds can be used.

    2. Provide for president to be elected by popular vote. (eliminate the electoral college, and electors.)

    3. Prohibit lobbyists from contributing to candidates, or writing bills for laws.

    4. Change terms of office for House of Representatives to six years.

    5. PACs can contribute to issues only, (not to candidates, not to political party.) Parties must receive funds from membership and individual contributions, maximum donation at one time, $250.00

6.Provide method, other than impeachment, for citizens to recall president, or any other federal office holder.

    7. Change federal judge tenure from life to 12 years. She can be reappointed and confirmed by Senate. (They can also be removed from office by citizens petition to Senate.)

    8. Office holders can serve two back to back terms only.

Our movement is concerned about our country's movement toward globalization, which really amounts to a, "one world government government." Our security is being sold to foreign companies, our borders are wide open to illegal immigrants, drug smugglers, and international terrorists. We are for a citizen revolution through legal procedures and changing our constitution to make it responsive to the American, not foreign corporations, or drug smugglers.
