  • (1888PressRelease) July 01, 2010 - Irvine CA - June is always clambake month for Orange County, thanks to the Children's Bureau's annual Creans' Clambake & Rockin' Lobster Bash.

This year's 11th fundraiser, held Saturday night at Shady Canyon Country Club in Irvine, drew 350 guests and netted a record $225,000 for the nonprofit, which CB's president and CEO Alex Morales says funds child-abuse-prevention programs and teaches parents how to nurture their children.

Nathan Jurczyk, a regular supporter of the Children's Bureau, attended the event for the fourth time! Nathan Jurczyk contributed $7,500 to the Children's Bureau's action program. He also provided underwriting for after school programs to support four children seeking assistance from the event's attendees.

When asked why he provided the sponsorship, Nathan Jurczyk stated "I see it as an honor, and a social obligation, to support the efforts of these great volunteers as they work to protect and support children in our community. I'm giving a donation, but they are giving the greatest gift that can be given - their time and effort through volunteerism."

The East Coast-themed event on the club's back lawn featured a dinner that included, of course, those famous littleneck clams with a "surf and turf" entree of sirloin of beef and steamed Australian lobster tail.

Guests had lots to bid on with 105 silent-auction and eight live-auction items from which to choose. Always fun is the clamshell prize drawing, in which everybody who buys a clam gets a prize, ranging from bottles of wine and tequila to Nordstrom gift certificates and dinner offerings.
