  • Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) August 17, 2010 - The 2010 Metropolitan Planning Council's "What Makes Your Place Great? Your Secret Corner of Chicagoland" contest is the perfect opportunity for Naperville to share its unique, world-class Millennium Carillon with the greater Chicagoland area. The Metropolitan Planning Council is hosting the contest in partnership with the Chicago Architecture Foundation to find out about "undiscovered" spaces across the Chicagoland area. The Carillon is one of 24 finalists in the 2010 Chicagoland contest.

Online votes cast through September 10, 2010 will determine the fan favorite. Three other winners will be selected by a panel of judges. All four winners will be announced on September 17 and will be featured in an exclusive Chicago Architecture Foundation tour this fall.

Anyone may vote once for the People's Choice winner at www.placemakingchicago.com/places, or at www.naperville-carillon.org.

Now in its 10th anniversary year, the Millennium Carillon in Moser Tower is being discovered by more and more carillonneurs from around the world, after hosting the international Congress of the Guild of Carillonneurs of North America this past June. The Carillon, with its nearby Visitor Center and the surrounding lush lawn of Rotary Hill, is becoming a favorite place for Naperville as well as a focal point for memorial celebrations, concerts, tours, and weddings.

"The Carillon is one of the few cultural amenities that people can enjoy for free or for a nominal fee, "said City Carillonneur Tim Sleep. "Carillon recitals are free and available to all, and for those who want to go a step further, Carillon tours provide an inside view of the majestic bells and a panoramic view of the landscape."

Naperville's Millennium Carillon is the fourth largest in North America, and one of only a few Grand Carillons in the world.
