Naperville's 2010 Battle of the Bands winner, Within Four Days, to vie for state title Aug. 21 in Springfield

The talented Naperville band, Within Four Days, heads to Springfield to compete for the 2010 State title in the Illinois Park and Recreation Association's Battle of the Bands contest. The finals take place at 12 noon at The Shed at the Illinois State Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 21. Within Four Days will compete against 6 other bands for the title. End Quote

Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) August 18, 2010 - Naperville's 2010 Battle of the Bands winner, Within Four Days, is on a roll toward the August 21 finals of the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association statewide competition at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield.

Those who were able to see Within Four Days at Ribfest will not be surprised that this talented band has advanced through the regional competition. All of the members have studied instrumental and/or vocal music for 8 years or more, and with their musical versatility, they have what it takes to play a great show. They emerged as one of the top 2 bands at the July 30 regional competition at Homewood-Flossmor and will compete as one of 7 bands at the State Fair competition.

Band leader Devin Jackson said that the most exciting moment of the summer so far was playing on the Main Stage at Ribfest. "It's always been a dream of mine to play at Ribfest, where the big name bands like REO and Lynrd Skynrd play. But guess what? We got to play there!"

The August 21 competition begins at 12:00 noon at the Shed at the Illinois State Fairgrounds, located at 801 Sangamon Avenue in Springfield. Some of the band's friends are coming from as far as Florida to cheer them on, and a few of the band members themselves will be driving from colleges in the Midwest and Texas to compete this Saturday.

The Battle of the Bands competition is an annual activity sponsored by the Naperville Park District's Youth Ambassadors, which gives bands from Naperville high schools an opportunity to perform for their friends and the chance to compete in the Illinois Parks and Recreation Association's regional contest.
